Beverly Bridge Preservation

BuildingWork is the architect for a feasibility study for the adaptive reuse of the Beverly Bridge in central Washington State. This steel truss bridge was built in 1909 as a train bridge crossing of the Columbia River. It spans nearly 3/4 of a mile, and the deck is nearly 100 feet above the river. Abandoned by the railway in 1980, the Beverly Bridge is now on the National Register of Historic Places.

The project study focuses on converting the bridge to pedestrian, bicycle, and equestrian use, providing non-motorized crossing of the Columbia River as part of the Palouse to Cascades Trail System.

BuildingWork is designing a new deck, railing systems, entrances, and lighting for the bridge.
